Blog of (Mostly) Independent Music
These are all songs found on free, legal music-sharing blogs; however, if you're a rights holder to a song and want it removed please e-mail me mailto:ceruleanlobster@yahoo.com . *Please* put "music" in the subject line. I have 6,000 + e-mails. Seriously. I have the Gmail account, too, but it has 11,000 emails. For reals.
The band discuss what it's like to be a band called A Sunny Day in Glasgow, and not be from Glasgow...and also if it is, indeed, sunny in Glasgow...or day...
Also, I heard this artist on Myspace and liked her. I couldn't find any mp3s I could share with y'all, but I figured this would at least let you hear her music.
NOTE This post was edited on 12/14/2009. I got a take down notice, but I was not informed which song was the issue, so I took out all music links in this post. If you are not the perpetrator of the notice, please let me know and I'll put your song back. I'm very conscious of where I get my music from--I don't use a song if I don't believe it came from a sanctioned source. I use sites like AOL Spinner, KEXP Song of the Day and Daytrotter. To the best of my knowledge, the artists/label pursue these sites to put their music up. I simply link to those files.
**The podcast show notes are in the post before this one**
The DØ, "Playground Hustle" (The artist gave me permission to include the song on my podcast, but not to post the mp3) (I got the instructions to create the Finnish Character here). Website Myspace
Neither Lucy Michelle, nor the Velvet Lapelles know that Sigur Ros is waiting, in the bushes, for their chance to steal their hat back. Watch out for them Icelanders...they're wily.
This is a really long picture, and I don't feel like editing it, and I can't find another...
Artist Update:
Morrissey has an album of B-Sides coming out on the 17th. You can listen to the songs at the Amazon page. I hadn't heard most of the songs before, but one of my favorite Morrisse songs is on it--"You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby".
Alright, so I'm a little light on actual MP3s this week. Yesterday was my birthday, alright? Cut me some slack! I was busy at the zoo, commiserating with my fellow mammals. I also went to an excellent restaurant here in Jax called Orsay. It was awesome. If you're anywhere near hear, I highly recommend it. I got free ice cream 'cause it was my birthday, too :)
I will post zoo and birthday pictures on my Facebook later, and probably my Myspace.
Ever heard of Magnolia Electric Co? If you have, you've heard of the Molina part of this band. Ever heard of Centro-Matic? Then you're familiar with the second part of this duo. Yes, as most of you already know, I loves me some mountain men folk music.
Seriously, this is the only picture I could find of them. Appropriate, considering yesterday was Halloween, huh?
A bit of sadness. I only found out about the musician/songwriter Taylor Mitchell a few days ago, after I heard she'd been killed. The story's all over the news sites, so you can find an article on it quite easily. I listened to her songs on her Myspace and website, and they're really beautiful. She had the talent of the older generation's folk musicians like Joan Baez or Carole King. She left one album, though, and it is gorgeous. I couldn't find it on Amazon or iTunes, but it looks like it's possible to order the physical CD.
Imogen Heap has a relatively new album, Ellipse. You can hear the songs on her Myspace. You can buy it on CD or digitally through her website, and you can listen to some of her past songs (like "Say Goodnight and Go" and "Hide and Seek" at her iLike site)
Tegan and Sara has a new album! It's called Sainthood. You can listen to the sing "Hell" at their website or watch their really funny video for the song.
